Bright Futures is a grass roots, community based program that creates partnerships and utilizes community resources for the common goal of helping our kids and strengthening our families and community.  JMR participants mays contribute to Bright Futures in two ways.  When registering online, you may select to donate to the Bright Futures JMR Scholarship Fund or to Bright Futures Operation Rising Eagle Phase II.  Donations to the scholarship fund will be used to fund scholarships for children directly impacted by the tornado.  Donations to Operation Rising Eagle Phase II will be used help fund the reconstruction of the many Joplin public schools lost in the storm.

Rebuild Joplin was founded in response to the tornado that tore through Joplin, Duquesne, and other surrounding communities. Rebuild Joplin began as a website to coordinate donations and volunteers, then evolved into serving the immediate needs of recovery, eventually shifting to the repair and rebuilding of homes directly affected by the tornado. Rebuild Joplin has rebuilt 64 homes to date, and aims to ensure that all remaining families that were storm-displaced are returned home by 2015.

When registering, run participants are invited to support either of these organizations by purchasing a $50 charity bib. You may also choose when registering online to raise funds through a personalized web page to share with friends and family.   Everyone raising at least $50 in funds will also receive a charity bib when you register online.
