One of the friendliest cities in America; Joplin, Missouri, is your host for two days of competitive running, running related events and entertainment for the entire family. The Joplin Memorial Run was created as a way to honor the 161 people who lost their lives in the May 22nd, 2011 tornado and to provide hope to the Joplin community while at the same time staging a first class event that runners will come back for again and again. The half marathon will begin at 6:30 a.m. on Joplin Street between 7th and 8th Streets in downtown Joplin. Joplin Street is one block directly west of Main Street. Registration fee deadlines:
Registration fee for the 5k is $25 The kids run will begin at 6:50 a.m. There is no entry fee for the kids run There will be no race day registration. There will be no packet pick-up on race day without prior authorization from the race director. Click here to request race day packet pick-up. Certification The 1/2 marathon course has been certified by USA Track & Field (USATF) What's New for 2012:
What’s Prohibited: (noncompliance with the following may result in immediate disqualification) Unregistered runners, unauthorized vehicles, bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, strollers, baby-joggers and runners with pets are strictly prohibited to assure runner safety and to comply with liability insurance requirements. Under USATF Rule 144.3b, the wearing of headphones and other listening devices (such as Ipods) is prohibited while on the race course. Finally, any type of support or unauthorized pacing will not be allowed. |
